Join us on May 10 for a club outing to Lake Langlois, a productive stillwater fishery nestled in the scenic Snoqualmie Valley.

Known for its stocked rainbow trout, kokanee, and a healthy largemouth bass population, Langlois offers excellent fly fishing opportunities throughout the season.

With easy access and a quiet, motor-restricted environment, it’s an ideal lake for a relaxing day on the water with fellow club members.

What to Expect

Spring conditions at Lake Langlois can be variable, with daytime temperatures typically in the 50s to low 60s°F and overnight lows dipping into the 40s. Rain is always a possibility, and light winds can develop in the afternoon. Dressing in layers and bringing rain gear is recommended.

The WDFW public access site on the east end of the lake provides a boat launch, parking, and restrooms. The lake is best fished from a float tube, pontoon boat, kayak, canoe, or small inflatable raft, as shoreline fishing is limited. Electric motors only are allowed.

Lake Structure & Fishing Conditions

Lake Langlois spans 39 acres and reaches a maximum depth of 40 feet, with gradual shorelines and deeper drop-offs that hold fish throughout the season.

Stocked Rainbow Troutprovide the most consistent action, particularly in spring when recent plants are active and feeding.
Kokanee are present and often suspend in deeper water, particularly in late spring and early summer.
Largemouth Bass inhabit the shallower, vegetated areas and become more active as water temperatures rise.

Trout are often found cruising near the surface in the morning and evening, while mid-day fishing may require deeper presentations. The lake’s eastern and northern sections feature good drop-offs and submerged structure where fish hold.

Fly Fishing Strategies

Spring fishing at Lake Langlois is productive using a mix of trolling, chironomid fishing, and surface action during hatches.

Trolling Black Woolly Buggers– One of the most effective methods. A size 8-10 black woolly bugger with a red bead head, fished near the surface with an intermediate or sinking line, has produced excellent results.
White Grubs & Streamers– Slow retrieves of white or olive patterns can be deadly, especially for kokanee and aggressive rainbows.
Chironomid Fishing – When fish are holding deeper, suspend chironomids or balanced leeches under an indicator in 8-15 feet of water.
Dry Fly Action – When a hatch is underway, Parachute Adams in sizes 14-18 can produce outstanding catch rates on rising trout.

Personal Floatation Device (PFD)
4-6 weight rods with floating and sinking lines
3x to 5x tippet (depending on fly selection)
Net for landing fish
Rain gear, hat, and sunglasses
Folding chair for breaks at the launch

Directions

From Fall City, take SR 203 north for approximately 4.6 miles, then turn right onto NE 24th St. Follow for 1.7 miles, and the WDFW access site will be on your left.
