Frame it for profit!

Project Overview:

You created a beautiful work of art and now you have to frame it. The presentation of your artwork can sometimes make or break a sale. While having your work custom framed it is expensive, and sticking it in a readymade frame is boring and looks like everyone else’s. In this workshop you will be educated in real world frame art or as I like to say “The Art of Framing” You will learn to properly frame a work of art without breaking the bank but instead add to your profitability.

Objectives:

• Matting and mounting.

• Upcycling a frame.

• Glass, fit, and Finish.

Matting:

You will cut a single/double mat and properly mount your artwork to protect and present.

We begin by measuring the art and the frame to calculate your matting dimensions. Width and height of frame less width and height of art divided in half gives you the mat width. With many variables available to enhance design we will discuss a few rules of framing. You will size your boards, mark, and cut. Assemble and mount the art in the window to create the first part of your package.

Frame:

You will examine and reinvent a used frame by painting, polishing, & personalizing 1. Are the corners clean and solid?

2. Does the color compliment your piece?

3. Is the frame scratched, dented, or dirty?

Using old frames from thrift stores saves a great deal of money and with a few tips and tricks can enhance the art and add profit.

Clean, Clean, and Polish!

You have a cut mat, mounted artwork, a FABULOUS Frame, and a piece of glass. Now we are going to finish it out and get ready to sell. Following these simple steps will help you make this task easy and fun.

Bring a piece of art at least 8" x 10" but no bigger than 11" x 14". Wear comfortable clothes.
